The end-of-the-year scramble

Working hard to keep up with everything over here. I got the father's day gifts/cards together for the most part. But I still need to ask DH about FIL. And a nice wrapped gift is sitting there for my husband, so he can wonder about it all week, he he he.

Swimming is scheduled for the boys, and ds-9 started Jujitsu already. I called the horseback riding place and they will call me back to confirm his classes. We struggle so hard during the year with homework, I have to cram all his outside activities into the summer.

My daughter is taking a semester abroad from mid August to mid December in Rome. There is a UCLA extension-like program over there. I'm nervous to send her out of the country, but I just have to deal with it, ya know?

I sent out invitations for DS-4's 5th birthday party. He wants a bouncer party just like his brother.

birthday prep

My big 8-y-o boy is turning 9 in a few days. His party will be next Sunday at the house. Every year, though I have offered elaborate parties at various venues, he asks for a party at the house with a rented bouncer. I found a cute one this year. It has a slide and basketball hoop inside. He also wants Auntie Rosalind cupcakes with yellow cake.

It is a bittersweet time for me with regard to this son. The school is having him tested for learning disabilities. I should know what their findings are by the end of April. My stomach is in knots over this. :-(

Birthday bouncer party

Yesterday was fun. We had a big party for my 8-y-o boy. I got the biggest bouncer I possibly could fit into the yard. It might have been a little too big. One end covered the sidewalk. There were quite a few bumps and bruises, but overall everybody had a great time. Little Joseph got the worst of it. He landed on his face on the cement at one point, and got a bad bruise and scab on his face, poor little one. He's running around like crazy today, though, none the worse for wear. I think you might be able to see his little bruise on this picture.
