Women in Chechnya Targeted For Not Wearing Head Scarves

Such a peaceful religion:
Chechen women complain of being approached by men in traditional islamic dress and being ordered to place scarves on their heads. They are threatened with brandished weapons and one was punched in the face.

Atabayeva was one of at least a dozen women who told of harassment or attacks. One of the women's assailants told Reuters "hundreds" of women had been warned. Atabayeva said earlier she had seen a group of men with automatic rifles taunting women for not wearing head scarves.

A woman in her mid-30s said she was punched in the face by a man in Islamic dress after refusing to put on a head scarf he had given her.

The actions follow a radical order earlier this week from Chechnya's spiritual leader to shut all cafes during the month of Ramadan, as well as paintball attacks on bare-headed women in June.

And another thing. Can anybody tell me what exactly Michelle Obama wore to the White House Ramadan dinners? I noticed that Obama doesn't tend to take Michelle on his visits to middle eastern countries. Has he taken her to any? Did she co-host the Ramadan dinners with him? Did she cover her arms? Her hair?

I'd have thought better of a POTUS who doesn't go to church, did not attend the National Day Of Prayer, stopped all military fly-overs at Christian memorial events (most notably the most recent God And Country Festival) and........

...... is hosting a Ramadan celebration dinner tomorrow evening at The White House........

A noteworthy update to President Obama's light schedule this week, considering the rumors about his religion that lingered throughout the 2008 campaign.

From the White House guidance for Tuesday:

In the evening, the President will host a dinner celebrating Ramadan and highlight the contributions of American Muslims in the State Dining Room. The President's remarks will be pooled press.

I saw this comment today and I came back to look at it again. I followed the link. Does Obama seeming to favor Islam over other religions strike any of you as odd? Or is it just me.
