UC Irvine Muslim Student Union Appeal Rejected

The Muslim Student Union (MSU) felt that shouting down the Israeli Ambassador while he was giving a scheduled speech last year was part of their right to free speech. The administration of the University of California, Irvine, disagreed, and informed them that the suspension will stand, although shortened to one quarter, as opposed to one year. The MSU will be on probation for 2 years after that.

A commenter at the OC Register noted:

The msu broke the rules when they organized, not a protest, but an attempt to halt the free speech rights of an individual who was invited to speak on campus.

The group had every right to protest outside of the venue...but not to disrupt the lecture or to attempt to shout down the speaker.

What the chancellor did not note is that the msu lied during the investigation. Knowing the rules which they are governed by, they stated that the disruption had not been organized. Emails show that they were lying.

Here is footage from the speech. Note the large group of muslim students, and the raucous cheering at each disruption. As a Southern California Jew myself, I had heard much about anti-semitic activities at UCI, so this did not surprise me. I am only glad that word is finally getting out.

Sept. 1, 2010: Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer waits for a TV debate to begin.

PHOENIX -- A Wyoming man has given more than $1.5 million to help defend Arizona's controversial immigration enforcement measure in court, Gov. Jan Brewer's office said Thursday.

The contribution from Timothy Mellon of Saratoga is the largest to Brewer's defense fund, which has amassed more than $3.6 million from 41,000 donors nationwide. Mellon could not immediately be reached for comment.

The latest legal bills released Thursday show Brewer's office has spent more than $440,000 for the first two months of defending the law.

The feds are using our tax dollars, from the 70% of U.S. citizens that support Arizona, to sue Arizona and make that same 70% donate personal dollars to defend against our own tax dollars being used against us. A classic example of "taxation without representation", which was the fundamental cause of the Revolutionary War. History does have a way of repeating itself. No wonder these sorry bastards are about to get flattened in November."

Panel of Former Muslims Says Overtolerance Could Hurt USA

I don't know how I missed this story in February. This pretty well settles the question about the "peaceful" American muslims. That would be about 2% of American mosques. Emphasis added.

Apostasy killing of former Muslims could become widespread in the United States if the U.S. government and Americans don't "wake up," a panel of three former Muslims said on Capitol Hill Thursday.

The talk, hosted by three members of the new civil rights organization Former Muslims United, marked the first public appearance as a self-proclaimed "apostate" of Iranian journalist Amil Imani, one of the founders of the group. Imani and the panel's two other speakers, authors Nonie Darwish and Wafa Sultan, told the audience that ingrained American religious and ethnic tolerance and myths about Islam are combining to gravely threaten the West.

"Shi'a radical Islam and Wahhabism is coming to this country," Imani said. "There are 6,000 mosques in the United States now. All the money [we] put into gasoline comes back here and is used in the teaching of hate, violence, etc., etc." in American mosques, he said.

Sultan, who said she regularly gets death threats and emails from people saying they will cut off her fingers and rape her daughters because she left Islam, said it is merely a myth that Islamic terrorists misinterpret 'true' Islam for nefarious purposes.

Westerners "don't want to judge anybody based on their [religion]," Sultan said, "[But] Islam is not a religion. Islam is a very dangerous political ideology. ... There is no such thing as radical Islam and regular Islam or spiritual Islam. ...There is only one Islam."

In the fall of 2009 FMU sent 111 pledges to Muslim organizations in the United States affirming the right of Muslims to leave Islam and not be punished or killed. (Shari'a, Muslim law, calls on Muslims to kill those who convert or otherwise leave the faith.) The document asked recipients to sign and return the pledge to FMU. Just two groups did.

The response is proof of a silent, creeping tolerance in the West for radical ideology, a development that augurs very badly for a free society, panel members said.
