I am not a size 2

And yet, today I am wearing size 2 pants. Why? Because some clothing manufacturers are mis-labeling clothes. This is a salesmanship tool, and I don't appreciate it. I don't need them to fool me into thinking I am suddenly much thinner than I am, just so I can buy their clothes and brag about how "small" I am.

To prove this point I took my measurements. My hip measurement is 36". This is *not* a size 2. According to a reliable catalog website, 36" is the largest that can fit into a size 4, and 36.5" would require a size 6. So if the pants shrink, such as jeans, I would tend to wear a size 6, which is the case. And when clothes do not shrink, such as dry-cleanables, I tend to wear a size 4. I do not wear a size 2 (except today). I tried on the size 4, but those were falling off of my hips and I hate spending the day hitching up my pants, especially pants without belt loops.

Before all this happened, I was already satisfied with my body-image situation. I weighed in last week 0.5 pounds under my non-breastfeeding goal weight. Which means I am free to indulge in treats and fun stuff. Yay!

Home maintenance day

I have a strange man coming to my house today, lol. He is a handyman and I need his help to fix a hole in the wall that my boys made by slamming the door open from the garage after the door stop fell off the baseboard. So there is a nice 3 by 3-inch hole in the WALLPAPER. Luckily, the FANTASTIC home sellers we bought this house from left a bunch of stuff for us including rolls of all the wallpaper. This guy is charging a very reasonable amount. I hope he does good work because he is local and I need a good handyman. DH is great at earning, but handiness is not his strong suit. I'm handy with some tools. I actually own my own drill and bits. But patching drywall is not something I want to tackle.

This will be a fun week. I have another babywearing group meeting to attend IRL tomorrow, so I will get to try on a bunch of new wraps and chat with the ladies. They can try on my wraps as well, now that I have a couple of desirable wraps in my stash.

I am also attending a mom's club gathering at a local park on Thursday. I need to get out more and I already know some of these ladies from the neighborhood.

My diet is going well. I have less than 1/2 pound to lose to reach my bfing target. I am serious about losing the last bit, though, because DD is coming to visit next Monday and she wants to have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. YUMMMM!

Weight goal is within sight

I know many or most will roll their eyes when I say I have 1.75 more pounds to lose to reach my breastfeeding goal weight. From your point of view that may seem so minor as to be laughable. But I live my life from *my* point of view. And for me, I need to be just a couple of pounds lighter around the tummy to fit into the majority of my wardrobe, and to feel like myself again after the pregnancy. This will still be 5 pounds heavier than my pre pregnancy weight.

I have been stuck at a plateau for weeks and it was SO frustrating. Frustrating because I was dieting and denying myself the kinds of treats that I wanted. Frustrating to sacrifice and suffer and not get anywhere. Frustrating because I knew my failure to make progress was due to the fact that I lose control generally in the later afternoon/evening, and if I find a food that appeals to me, I can enter a feeding frenzy. Frustrating because I *know* an evening feeding frenzy is *not* going to be worked off, but will turn to fat overnight.

For the past few days I have gone on an even stricter diet, and it has finally worked. I lost another pound, with less than 2 pounds to go. The thing is, I LOVE treats. I WANT to reward myself and treat myself to fun stuff. I don't mind if I gain a pound or 2 over a few days, I know I can lose it again and again. It is just that I want my weight fluctuating that pound or 2 around my target weight, and not 4 pounds above it, which is what I've been doing the past month. Hating the mornings when I squeeze into my jeans that don't quite fit right.

My jeans feel better today. And hopefully they will feel even better next week. I only need to control myself a little bit longer, and I will be ready to reward myself again.

Don't worry about the little one. I'm drinking tons of decaf tea and his diapers are remarkably full and heavy/wet.

I'm losing weight

I'm not trying to lose weight, of course, but I think what has happened is that my tastebuds find that a lot of foods taste bad. And the fact that it is Passover makes my food choices so very limited, if those foods taste bad to me, then I'm really stuck. I have lost 2.5 pounds, 2 pounds in the last week alone. I am SO looking forward to sundown on Tuesday night. I can start eating my normal foods again.
