The Hottest Yard Signs-- I Caucus
When I was on the Rick Amato radio show last night the other guest was Stephanie Jahn, a National Director from I Caucus. It turns out that this organization is busy vetting candidates based on the principles of Constitutional conservatism. The first candidate they endorsed happened to be our own Chuck DeVore. They also endorse Jim DeMint. Here is the I Caucus mission statement.
OUR PRINCIPLES ARE:
*LIMITED GOVERNMENT
*FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
*ADHERENCE TO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY
*REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE TO WASHINGTON; NOT WASHINGTON TO THE PEOPLE
OUR GOAL IS TO:
*BRING GOVERNMENT CONTROL AND ACCOUNTABILITY BACK TO THE PEOPLE
*REMOVE THE INFLUENCE AND CONTROL OF “BIG MONEY” SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS
*HOLD OUR REPRESENTATIVES ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR PROMISES AND PRINCIPLES
OUR METHOD TO ACCOMPLISH OUR GOAL IS TO:
*FIND, VET, ENDORSE AND THEN HELP ELECT PRINCIPLED CANDIDATES
*TEACH OUR DELEGATES A PROVEN METHOD TO ACHIEVE GRASSROOTS ELECTORAL SUCCESS
My only concern after hearing that they back candidates regardless of their campaign war chest was this not be something that encourages third party problems, thereby splitting the conservative vote and ensuring a liberal win. Mrs. Jahn assured me that I Caucus is not a 3rd party nor do they support 3rd party candidates. The vetting occurs during the primary race and helps us to choose the very best candidate in the primary. Which is a wonderful idea. Can you imagine going into a voting booth and having the opportunity to vote for a GOOD candidate, and not just the lesser of two evils?
