Obama's Targeted Killings of U.S. Citizens Needs Oversight-ACLU Video

Well I'll be. I'm in agreement with the ACLU on this one. Targeted drone killings, particularly of U.S. citizens, are a violation of due process guaranteed in our constitution. And it is a bad precedent. What is to stop the Chinese from sending drones over our airspace to eliminate a few annoying activists....

Here are the latest You Tube comments on the video:

slowthighs, I may be wrong but when the USA takes out a Terrorist we take out the terrorist that is a known terrorist as opposed to the actual terrorist that just blow up American targets. It is possible that there are innocents that could be killed. Now the recent case about taking out an actual American terrorist hiding in Yemen is a bit of a different story. With him the constitution comes in to play but enemies of the USA are not protected by the constitution as are the citizens of the USA.

Serr8d, did you watch the video? You do realize that if America allows a small group of authorities to pass death sentences, in secret, without trial, without conviction, they can do the same to you, right? You do realize that if America abandons its core principles America won't even exist anymore, right? You do realize that the United States is nothing without the Constitution, right? You do realize that America would become a terrorist nation no better than Al Qaeda, right? Right? Right?

Better to kill a terrorist with a drone than risk a squad or company of Marines to do the job. Our troops are much more valuable than any terrorist. You lefties know that, right? Right?

If the 'American Citizen' you whine for has fled justice and joined the ranks of the enemy, he's lost his civil rights, and deserves what he gets.

These whiners above should watch the Daniel Pearl video. Or 'Adopt a Terrorist'; take him home to live with your family.

1:40 International law? There is no such thing! This video shows how idiotic the ACLU and the radical left have become. Pass out the kool-aid hippies, and you better take cover, the drone's after you next.

@Ruthlesscritic This is an organic outgrowth of the Bush regime's doctrine of unlimited executive "war powers."

Wow, logically I should say this is worse than anything the Bush administration did. I can't really feel that way, but still incredibly appalling. Imagine how far the next Bush-like administration will be able to take things now.

A Walk On The Ugly Side, Huffpo's Take On Restoring Honor Rally

Huffpo was not kind in its assessment of the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally participants. The interviewer and editor of this video seemed to be trying to find awkward footage in order to make people look foolish. And even so, most of the interviewees did fine. Not "creepy" as one Huffpo commenter found them. I think the majority of Huffpo commenters are "creepy". So there.
While the speaker list was diverse, the overwhelmingly white crowd expressed paranoid and conspiratorial fears of multiculturalism -- that atheists or black liberation theologists or radical Muslims or "free-loading" Latinos were going to ruin our country. There was the constant suggestion that white Christians and their way of life are somehow under assault, and that the attendees of this rally were here to put an end to it and return the country to what it used to be.

Obama Complains to UN About Arizona, Jan Brewer Objects

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer called on Hillary Clinton to remove language from the recent report to the UN Human Rights Council that characterized S.B.1070 as human rights abuse, and the Obama administration's court challenge as a defense of human rights.

Really? Controlling our border is now a human rights violation? What about OUR human rights not to be overrun by criminals breaking our laws. What America's right to be a country. Can we even be a country without borders? Don't we have a right to make decisions about immigration based on what is good for America? I swear Obama is an internationalist, not an American. Too many years being raised overseas, I guess.

Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer is calling on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to remove a reference to her state’s immigration law from a report on human rights.

In a required report to the United Nations Human Rights Council, the State Department said the federal government's challenge to the Arizona law that requires police to check the immigration status of anyone they stop or detain was an example of how the United States is protecting human rights.

"A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world," the report read. "The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined."...

“The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” Brewer wrote. “Human rights as guaranteed by the United States and Arizona Constitutions are expressly protected in S.B. 1070 and defended vigorously by my administration.”

“If the federal government secured the entire border and enforced our immigration laws, these human rights problems would not be occurring for citizens, legal residents and illegal immigrants,” she added.

"Europe Is The Cancer, Islam Is The Answer"?

By sheikyermami on September 12, 2008

What exactly is a moderate Muslim?

Bridgett Gabriel: “A moderate Muslim is a non-practicing Muslim.
Muslim demonstrators
A non-practicing or non-devout Muslim is a man who doesn’t pray 5 times a day, does drink alcohol, doesn’t attend a mosque regularly, believes he is equal to all other people and God’s creation. Does not believe that Apostates should be killed. He believes that people have the freedom to chose what religion they want to belong to. He does not believe that Jihad should be declared on non Muslims until they convert or pay the Jizya. He believes that gays should not be killed according to Sharia Law even if he disagrees with their lifestyle. He believes that his wife is his equal and is entitled to the same respect and education as any other man; that she is not his property according to the Koran; that she should not be covered from head to toe or even wear a hijab; that he does not have the right to beat her just because he is a man and she is a woman, that Jews are his equals in the eyes of God.

Most moderate Muslims do not know the real teaching of the Koran and many of them have never read it.
In debates between the moderates and the radicals about the Koran, the radical always win the arguments because Islamic law is on their side. They can quote you chapter and verse from the Koran to support their arguments while the moderates just sit speechless not knowing how to respond.”

Hat Tip Theospark.

American Muslim Organization Says Obama is Wrong About Ground Zero Mosque

Apparently there *are* some moderate muslims in America, and some are speaking out. This press release by Dr. M Zuhdi Jasser is heartening. He really gets it. And he expresses appreciation for American freedoms and fear of sharia law.
"As an American Muslim whose family fled persecution in Syria and as someone who has stood in the face of some resistance to the building of many of our houses of worship in the U.S., I fully understand the value of standing for religious freedom in America. But President Obama's statement about the Ground Zero mosque at last night's White House Iftar dinner is the latest example of political correctness gone awry.

The President commented that:

"Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America."

Yes, Mr. President, this is America and you have fundamentally misunderstood the stakes in this discussion and the sentiments of the American people. Instead, you have focused on the very issue that the Islamist propagandists wish you to-- the narrative that Americans somehow need lectures about Islam, Muslims, and religious freedom.

Your message to Americans will be spun on Al Jazeera and by Islamists across the world that President Obama reassured a friendly global Muslim audience at the White House Ramadan dinner that he was going to remind Americans about the principles of religious freedom for Muslims since they seem to be trampling over those principles in the local dispute at Ground Zero in New York.

Mr. President this is not about religious freedom. It is about the importance of the World Trade Center site to the psyche of the American People. It is about a blatant attack on our sovereignty by people whose ideology ultimately demands the elimination of our way of life. While Imam Faisal Rauf may not share their violent tendencies he does seem to share a belief that Islamic structures are a political statement and even Ground Zero should be looked upon through the lens of political Islam and not a solely American one.

As a Muslim desperate to reform his faith, your remarks take us backwards from the day that my faith will come into modernity. I do not stand to eliminate Imam Rauf's religious freedom; I stand to make sure that my children's religious freedom will be determined by the liberty guaranteed in the American Constitution and not by clerics or leaders who are apologists for shar'iah law and will tell me what religious freedom is.

'Park 51', 'The Cordoba House' or whatever they are calling it today should not be built, not because it is not their right to do it - but because it is not right to do it." Mr. President, your involvement in this issue is divisive not uniting. Your follow-up stating that 'you will not speak to the wisdom of the construction of that mosque and center' indicates a passive-aggressive meddling on your part that only marginalizes those Muslim and non-Muslim voices against it while pretending to understand both sides of the debate.

News Busted Takes On Mosque Issue (humor)

Primary Day, Remember Who Voted For Obamacare: Complete List

Voting today? Voting soon? Voting in NOvember?

Let's make it a Hell NOvember for the fans of Obamacare. Yes, Obamacare. The gift that keeps on giving. American employers are already scared to hire new workers, in good part because of the burdens of Obamacare. Additionally, the 1099 reporting requirements will crush small business under an avalanche of tax paperwork. Can you imagine sending a 1099 form to Staples or the computer store? Yep. Wherever you spent more than $600, you will have to send a 1099 tax form, after scrambling around to find out the taxpayer ID number for each of these retail outlets. Nightmare!

Now that the damage has been done everyone wants to know who needs to be held accountable in November.  Below is the list of the 219 representatives that voted to pass this disasterous piece of legislation. Note that 34 Democrats joined every Republican in voting against it. Isn’t it nice to see that Obama is keeping his promise of ending partisanship? We actually had bi-partisan resistance to the bill, that’s certainly a step forward, right?

Newt Gingrich Endorses Van Tran (R) To Replace Ineffective Loretta Sanchez (D) In Congress

I know what you are thinking. Newt isn't pure. He backed a RINO (Scozzafava) last time. But honestly, there is no moral equivalency between Democrats and Republicans. So many times this year, when the chips were down, Dem "blue dogs" sided with Obama/Pelosi/Reid. There were no blue dogs. Therefore we must replace as many as we can with Republicans. Conservative Republicans wherever possible. Van Tran's race is one of the few close races in Southern California. If you can help out phone banking or walking precincts, please contact him at JoinVanTran.

Van Tran press release:

(Santa Ana, CA) - Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich today issued an endorsement for Van Tran in his race for Congress in California’s 47th Congressional district.

“I am proud to support Van Tran for Congress,” said Speaker Gingrich. “Van Tran understands the power of free enterprise and unleashing the shackles that tie down America's productive capacity. America’s economic woes are not due to the excesses of the free market, as Loretta Sanchez claims, but instead due to her policies of easy credit, deficit spending and stimulus. Van Tran understands that we need a new economic policy to promote a robust economic recovery and a new, long-term economic boom. This requires a sweeping replacement of the current policies supported by Loretta Sanchez.”

“I am honored to receive Speaker Gingrich’s endorsement for my race against Loretta Sanchez,” said Assemblyman Van Tran.

“So many people have joined our effort to restrain reckless spending and to eliminate waste in the Washington bureaucracy; but to have the support of a national leader with proven results balancing budgets, reforming government and cutting taxes endorse our efforts will just embolden our volunteers even more. The public is tired of Loretta Sanchez’s overspending and it needs to stop NOW.”

Van Tran has a proven record of voting against government waste and overspending. During his tenure as a State Legislator, Tran authored a bill to cut spending on wasteful boards and commissions and has twice donated his unrequested pay raises to charities in his district. He has voted against all of California’s overspending budgets and received a 100% score as a “Job Creator.”

For his commitment to creating jobs, Tran was also awarded perfect scores by the National Federation of Independent Business and the California Small Business Association.

The 47th Congressional District has a Democrat registration advantage, but for the first time since Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has been elected, more ballots were cast (2,190) in the Republican primary than on the Democratic side in the primary election. CA-47 also voted for both George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger twice, as well in favor of Proposition 8 (defining traditional marriage) by a 2 to 1 margin in 2008.

Women in Chechnya Targeted For Not Wearing Head Scarves

Such a peaceful religion:
Chechen women complain of being approached by men in traditional islamic dress and being ordered to place scarves on their heads. They are threatened with brandished weapons and one was punched in the face.

Atabayeva was one of at least a dozen women who told of harassment or attacks. One of the women's assailants told Reuters "hundreds" of women had been warned. Atabayeva said earlier she had seen a group of men with automatic rifles taunting women for not wearing head scarves.

A woman in her mid-30s said she was punched in the face by a man in Islamic dress after refusing to put on a head scarf he had given her.

The actions follow a radical order earlier this week from Chechnya's spiritual leader to shut all cafes during the month of Ramadan, as well as paintball attacks on bare-headed women in June.

Whiny Lament: Liberals Don't Like Obama Either

Sometimes I take a walk on the wild side, so you don't have to. There was some information in this rant that was new to me. I didn't know that Sotomayor and Kagan are viewed by the left as "moderates at best". It will be interesting to see how the disappointed progressives vote in November. If they vote at all, that is.

Instead, we have a de facto minority government, organized and instituted, operated with oily efficiency by the Republicans in the Senate, combined with the Obama administration's capitulation thinly disguised as a bipartisan attempt. Those in charge at the White House and in the Democratic Party ought to be asking: Who voted for that? And: Who will vote for that... again? What is representative democracy if the representatives won't follow the will of the majority who voted for them?

Instead of taking their mandate seriously - instead of being "the ones we were waiting for" - this Democratic Party and this Democratic President have simply failed to lead. The never-ending wars continue unabated. The Supreme Court gets more women, but they are moderates at best, not progressives. Gitmo is still open. Constitutional abuses of civil liberties under Bush/Cheney have become the policy of the Obama administration. These failures plus the meager, insufficient and less than promised legislative results are just not enough for those who didn't vote Democratic for 64 years -but did vote for Obama - to do it anytime soon again. The protests may come from the President's spokesman, even from Obama himself, but the sad fact remains - we have not seen "Change We Can Believe In" and the current crop of Democrats are certainly not the ones we've been waiting for.
More here.

Kind of laughable to blame the Republicans in the Senate. What a joke. Poor little thing can't live unless they have a super majority.

Pamela Geller and Opus #6 (myself) Rule 5 Saturday

Pamela Geller is amazing. She is a gladiator on the world scene, fighting for freedom, justice and the American Way. Undeterred by jihadi death threats, she very kindly paused from signing her new book, the Post-American Presidency, to pose with me for a Blackberry picture.
To that end, she posted a lovely bikini vlog (video blog) on Christmas Eve 2007 thanking the troops and exercising her right to wear a bikini and have her say. As she said, if she tried to do this in Europe, she would have been arrested. {content warning}

National Lampoon's Christmas Inception (VOTD)

Interesting what a change in music and some editing will do to a movie trailer.

Also, there is a funny Mac Computer demo of the Inception plot. How long has Inception been out? I am shocked to see it still trending on Twitter.

Fatwa (death threat) on Molly Norris, Everybody Draw Mohammed Day Cartoonist

Why was it not more widely in the news that I only just heard that terrorist cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki placed American artist Molly Norris on his hit list? I sure hope she has good protection. They have killed artists in the past. She has more courage than the South Park creators who backed off of their planned satire of Mohammed.  We must speak out against those who would threaten our free speech.  And we must protect each other from terror attack.
In an English-language Al Qaeda magazine that calls itself "Inspire," Awlaki damns Norris and eight others for "blasphemous caricatures" of the Prophet Muhammed. The other cartoonists, authors and journalists in Awlaki's cross hairs are Swedish, Dutch and British citizens.
The 67-page terror rag is seen by terrorism experts as a bald new attempt to reach and recruit Muslim youth in the West.
"The medicine prescribed by the Messenger of Allah is the execution of those involved," writes Awlaki, 39, a Las Cruces, N.M.-born American citizen.
"A soul that is so debased, as to enjoy the ridicule of the Messenger of Allah, the mercy to mankind; a soul that is so ungrateful towards its lord that it defames the Prophet of the religion Allah has chosen for his creation does not deserve life, does not deserve to breathe the air."

Three Things You May Not Have Known About Islam

A very enlightening video clip.

Until Thanksgiving, My Son

Reluctantly, I pack up my college boy today and send him on the road back to college. It is his second year. How quickly time flies. And so I take an extra moment to enjoy the song I heard most often floating from his room this summer. Fare thee well, son. I miss you already.

One Way To Style Your Hijab (Veil)

This is for all of you infidels: Get with the program. You know the scarf area at your local department store? Better start shopping, if you want to get along under Sharia. Heck, you're lucky we're not talking full Niqab or Burqa here.

And another thing. Can anybody tell me what exactly Michelle Obama wore to the White House Ramadan dinners? I noticed that Obama doesn't tend to take Michelle on his visits to middle eastern countries. Has he taken her to any? Did she co-host the Ramadan dinners with him? Did she cover her arms? Her hair?

Just askin'....

Protest At Ground Zero Victory Mosque Site Sunday Aug 22nd

WHO: The Coalition to Honor Ground Zero and: the Blue Collar Corner; The Bravest; 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America; Women United International; Stop Shariah Now; ACT! For America and ACT! Manhattan; Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam; and many other organizations and leaders to be announced, as well as local residents living in the Ground Zero area.

WHEN: Sunday, August 22nd at 11:00 a.m

WHERE: Park Place, at northeast corner of Church Street and West Broadway, Manhattan

WHY: To push back against those attempting to impose harsh Shariah Islam, stealth jihad or terror on our nation. We will not be moved!
More here.

Victory Mosque Site is ON TOP of Ground Zero, Not 2 Blocks Away

This is the part of the message we need to get straight. A portion of one of the planes crashed through the roof of the building that was purchased by the mosque proponents. That makes it PART of Ground Zero. And one of the reasons WHY the proponents bought the property in the first place. SO "iconic", SO cool!

The Burlington Coat Factory building, 45 Park Place, which was severely damaged by that part of one of the 9/11 planes, is Ground Zero, as is the former World Trade Center site. That's why the Islamic supremacists want that building, and only that building, and why they have rebuffed Governor Paterson's offer to help them move elsewhere, and why they persist in their plans despite a rising chorus of public disapproval and public anguish that shows up their claims to be "building bridges" with this mega-mosque.
More here.

If you are wondering why Obama jumped into the fray, I think I understand. As Pamela Geller said in Los Angeles Monday night, Obama already got what he wanted from us. He is and will always be President 44. We served our purpose.

Call-Me-Senator Barbara Boxer Emailed Me This Afternoon (Junk Box)

Dear Friend:

Thank you for contacting my office to express your views on S.3628, the Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections (DISCLOSE) Act. On July 27, 2010, a motion to proceed to S.3628 failed, preventing the Senate from considering this bill.

I believe that all citizens should become involved in the legislative process by letting their voices be heard, and I appreciate the time and effort that you took to share your thoughts with me. One of the most important aspects of my job is keeping informed about the views of my constituents, and I welcome your comments so that I may continue to represent California to the best of my ability. Should I have the opportunity to consider legislation on this or similar issues, I will keep your views in mind.

For additional information about my activities in the U.S. Senate, please visit my website, http://boxer.senate.gov. From this site, you can access statements and press releases that I have issued about current events and pending legislation, request copies of legislation and government reports, and receive detailed information about the many services that I am privileged to provide for my constituents. You may also wish to visit http://thomas.loc.gov to track current and past legislation.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I appreciate hearing from you.

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Please do not respond to this message. If you would like to comment on legislation, please visit my website and use the correspondence form at http://www.boxer.senate.gov/en/contact/policycomments.cfm

Did you hear that? She called me her "Dear Friend". {Swoon} Not.

I wonder if she is worried about a fun little CBS poll showing Fiorina (R) ahead of Boxer (D) 47 to 42. CBS? One month ago CBS had her up by only 2 points.

And before you get purist, know that I agree. I would have preferred Chuck DeVore. But this IS the People's Republik of Kalifornia. Whaddya want from us bozos!

Allies in Courage

I walked away from the talk last night in Los Angeles by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer feeling grateful. Sure Geller and Spencer have a world-view that would shock many, but as a blogger I cannot say I was shocked. We are locked in an ideological war whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. The left wants to control our freedom of speech through new "laws" and our methods of production through punishing taxes. The jihadists want to control our freedom through conquest. The world is now and has always been a dangerous place. Ronald Reagan believed in Peace Through Strength. Strength worked back in the 1980s and it would work now, except we have a weak president who often sides with our enemies. One thing I didn't fully understand until last night is how serious an act of treason it was for Obama to support the UN resolution against anti-islamic hate speech. When hate speech can (and is, in Europe) be misconstrued to mean mere reporting on jihadist activities, our God-given rights to free speech, as documented in our Constitution, are in grave jeopardy. Obama sides with our foes against our Constitution, which he has sworn to protect and defend against all enemies. Of course, the Constitution has always been a barrier to any would-be tyrant. He seeks to take more of our liberties and more and more as time passes. God bless America and God help us get through Obama's reign. We need His help and we need the help and efforts of all Americans who believe in freedom. Keep blogging, tweeting and being active in our communities and on school boards. This struggle is real and the outcome will determine what kind of nation our children live in. Do we give them Ronald Reagan's shining city on a hill? Or something else.

Most importantly I want to thank you and thank all of our brave allies in the blogosphere for pushing through the struggle which can become personal at times. Particularly Geller and Spencer have received violent threats based on their blogging and public advocacy, and yet they persevere. Donald Douglas has been reported to his boss at work for his blogging efforts and continues to struggle with those attacks. My own blog was called to the attention of the divorce court in the custody battle for my children. The struggle becomes personal.

And thank you to LL, a staunch ally and blogging friend. I love the new header he made for this blog with the new title *American Perspective*. He had made the old MAinfo header as well. His piece from last night is important reading. He says that we are now past the tipping point and that war between Israel and Iran is inevitable, because of Iran's nuclear ambitions. And that this would necessarily involve our troops because American bases in the middle east would undoubtedly come under fire by Iran. Our weak, quasi-muslim president practically invites attack.

And yet I am hopeful. The spirit of the Israelis under Benjamin Netanyahu is indomitable. And our American Spirit is a rock-solid force. We will not submit to tyranny.

Pamela Geller Speaks at Skirball Center in Los Angeles

Ms. Geller is so beautiful and brave. I am honored to be in the same room with her. God bless her in her labors. Americans cannot claim not to know what is going on in the world, like the Germans did in WWII. With courageous people like her speaking out against injustice, we know. And with that knowledge comes responsibility. Thank you to all my blogging coworkers and Twitter friends. You are doing what MUST be done. I am proud of us.
These questions of politics go to the heart of our civilization, and are unspeakably important.

"Across the world the light of freedom is dimming, and I don't blame Obama voters....he was marketed like Coke. By the best marketers in the world. He was sold to the American Public."-Pamela Geller

Astounding Singing Performance By 10-y-o Jackie Evancho

Jackie Evancho sang opera on August 10, 2010 on the show America's Got Talent. She certainly does have talent. Even people who don't usually like opera will enjoy listening to her timeless voice.

Ray Bradbury Endorses Reaganomics, Capitalism

The Comic Con host asked Ray Bradbury how we should get out of this recession. Looks like he expected a different answer. Pretty funny.

The American People Are Furious About Prop 8

Rush Limbaugh is certainly more in touch with Americans than the Obama Administration. November can't come soon enough.

Does Obama recite poetry at night? "How can I disenfranchise thee, let me count the ways...."

Unforgettable: Scarlett Johansson Gets Felt Up On Red Carpet

The interviewer let his fingers do the walking and fully satisfied his curiosity about Scarlett Johansson's amazing cleavage.

In 2006 this gave new meaning to the term Golden Globes.

Shock! Iranian Woman Jailed For Adultery Confesses To New Crime-Murder

Sakineh Ashtiani has been in jail since 2006 waiting to be put to death by stoning, despite insisting on her innocence. A recent international outcry caused the Iranians to withdraw the sentence of stoning. Perhaps they could not produce the 4 eye witnesses required by Sharia Law to justify the stoning to their Islamic allies.
But no problem. A couple days of torture later and we have a new scenario: Woman admits to conspiracy to murder her husband, and denounces her lawyer, who was forced to flee Iran last week after his wife and brother-in-law were arrested by the Iranians. Maybe this is the Iranian form of a plea bargain? Exchange stoning for hanging?

September 11th Was NOT About "Optics" As Kos Kook Says

One of the comments at Gateway Pundit referred to this video as rebuttal to the @%$! at Daily Kos who said that 9/11 was more about "optics than actual harm". The crashing sounds of the bodies as they exploded onto the pavement were like bombs. I don't call that optics.

What a bunch of whiny, immature fools write over at the Daily Kos. They are upset because our memories of 9/11 get in the way of their progressive agenda. And by minimizing that happened that day, they hope to get beyond it. But they only succeed in exposing themselves for the foolish babies that they are. We learned lessons that day. We continue to grieve as a nation. And we will never, never forget.

Mysterious Sea Otter Shortage Hits California Coast

Biologists are looking into reasons for the adult otter deaths. This video is super cute.
