Don't Mess With Apple Pie

Twitpic via @KLSouth

I am walking precincts today for Van Tran (R) vs Loretta Sanchez (D) 47th Congressional Dist

This is me with candidate Van Tran himself. Nice guy, believes in the Constitution and limited government. I sure hope he beats Loretta Sanchez. We need as many conservatives in government as possible.

Putting boots on the ground here, folks.

Juarez Cartel Offers 1 Million For Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Head

This is going WAY too far. This text message is being sent to people in the United States, from Mexicans, as a contract out on Sheriff Joe's life. What is usually done in these international situations and is the American government doing all it should to protect Americans and Sheriff Joe?

We Could Sure Use Some Separation of Powers Right About Now

I don't know about you, but I sigh wistfully when I read about the Constitution and the Founding Fathers. Boy, we could use a country that actually HAS a separation of powers.

Obama ignores the Constitution regularly. And even lately, there has been no let-up. Shamnesty is a no-go in the legislature this year. Ya think? Americans in a national depression don't want to give away jobs to 11 million foreigners? Americans don't want to ring the dinner bell for 4 times that number who will pour across the border for the next amnesty? We have been burned by this before. Reagan's amnesty was one of his worst mistakes in office, in my opinion. California used to be a conservative state, but no more. All because of Reagan's amnesty. More swing states will fall if another amnesty occurs.

But ever to be one pole-vaulting over obstacles, Obama's administration is discussing other alternatives, like executive powers allowing forms of amnesty. Hmm. Is that like legislating from the oval office? What Would Our Founders Do (WWOFD)?

Similarly, not to be deterred by 2 court rulings against his offshore drilling moratorium, Obama continues to rewrite the law his imperial declaration that no drilling shall proceed. Ever. Until he says so.

Obama scoffs at every one else's power but his own.

I can't WAIT to show him our power in NOvember.

Grace Kelly Tribute

Rule 5 blogging brings another one of the most beautiful women in the world. Grace Kelly.

Did you know Alfred Hitchcock adored her? After she left Hollywood, he went through one blonde leading actress after another trying to find another Grace Kelly. But ladies like this don't come around too often.

Arizona Turf War Heats Up-Law Begins Thursday, Protests Planned

by JONATHAN J. COOPER, MICHELLE PRICE, AP
updated 7/27/2010 6:18:49 PM ET
PHOENIX — The sheriff of Arizona's most populous county is making room in a vast outdoor jail and determined to round up illegal immigrants to fill it. Police from the U.S.-Mexico border to the Grand Canyon are getting last-minute training. And protests and marches are planned throughout Phoenix.
Arizona's new immigration law takes effect Thursday, creating a potentially volatile mix of police, illegal immigrants and thousands of activists, many planning to show up without identification as a show of solidarity.
At least one group plans to block access to federal offices, daring officers to ask them their immigration status.
"Our message for that day is: 'Don't comply, don't buy,'" said activist Liz Hourican, whose group, CodePink, plans to block the driveway for immigration offices in downtown Phoenix.
More here.
Bring it on, Pinkos. Say hello to Sheriff Joe Arpaio for me.

DISCLOSE ACT Defeated! RINOs United Today-HooRaaah!

Oh my gosh, that was close.  57-41!  Thank you to all Republican Senators who voted against the unfair and unconstitutional DISCLOSE ACT. The Democrats were trying to create unequal "free" speech for unions versus the rest of us. You stood by your oaths.

glennbo on Hot Air commented:

So, wasn’t this legislation developed to take the place of prior legislation that was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court? You know, the same one the President referred to when rudely calling out members of the Supreme Court who were in attendance at his last state of the union address? And where most of the democrat members of congress stood and applauded in their faces?

I would say that this is a hard SLAP across the Presidents smug mug and a total rebuke of the democrats power grab!

Way to go RINO’s! Bout time!

Exactly. This is what LL was talking about in a prior comment. Just like Obama keeps placing new oil drilling moratoriums after they are ruled illegal by the courts, so he is trying to place restrictions on free speech when they have been struck down by the Supreme Court.

Even Diane Feinstein stood against final passage of this bill (did she read the email I sent her last night about it?).   I reminded her of her oath to the Constitution.

Either way, the RINOs held the line. Every last one of them, including Scott Brown. Whew! That was a close one!

DISCLOSE ACT Vote Tomorrow-Call Your Senators!

The Senate will hold a cloture vote on the First Amendment-shredding DISCLOSE Act as soon as late Monday night, July 26, 2010. Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard and urge your Senators to OPPOSE DISCLOSE! (202) 224-3121
The forced disclosure of donor information is an invasion of privacy and would leave the donors open to harassment and intimidation. Although unions have been given special preferences. This bill will have a chilling effect on free speech.
For more information about the DISCLOSE Act visit http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=37070

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU

Exampleville, Ohio has two people running for U.S. Congress-Mr. A and Mr. B-in what promises to be a close race. Exampleville's local Tea Party believes in Mr. B. The Tea Party wants to run ads highlighting Mr. B's stance on cap and trade, federal spending, increased taxation, etc, but they don't have enough money to fulfill the new highly complex reporting requirements from DISCLOSE. And DISCLOSE would force them to list their top donors, even if they are not necessarily the specific donors to the ads, in their ads. Besides, the disclaimers required could take up to 14 of a 30 second ad. The Tea Party gives up trying to run ads to support Mr. Republican.

In contrast, Mr. A has some well-funded unions who want to see Exampleville's factories unionized, so the unions run ads against Mr. B and ads for Mr. A. Also, the Sierra Club and the ACLU (groups actually opposed to DISCLOSE) want Mr. A to support their issues, so they also run ads for Mr. A. None of these ads are subject to DISCLOSE's requirements.

Guess who wins?

The DISCLOSE Act exempts unions and very large special interest groups!! And the little guy is left without a voice.

Obama Admin Cowers Before Glenn Beck

Didn't Shirley Sherrod complain in her own words that she was told to pull over in her car and submit her resignation because she was going to be on Glenn Beck that night? She claims the person on the phone told her it was the WHITE HOUSE that wanted her resignation and had mentioned Glenn Beck.

Does this man look terrifying to you? ==========================}

Howard Dean went on to try to blame Sherrod's firing on Fox News, but he was hoist by his own petard. Turns out Fox never ran the clip or mentioned Sherrod until AFTER she was fired.

Oh, the HUMANITY! Poor Howard Dean. Sitting there like a deer in headlights. Wallace owned him.

Why Aren't Conservatives Dancing In The Streets?

Left Coast Rebel asks via The War Planner why we Conservatives are not popping the champagne corks because Charlie Rangel just got dinged for ethics violations (it's about time) and because Reid decided to drop Cap and Tax (for now).

Call me cynical, but I don't trust these people. They've had us over a barrel for a year and a half and they are about to get their comeuppance, thank you very much. November, here I come.

But the big picture is murkier and more disturbing, summed up sadly nicely by our blogging friend, Kristen. In her "Dictator of USA" piece, she describes why the Health Care Law, Financial Reform, National Popular Vote, Internet Kill Switch, Presidential Assassination Program, Disclose Act, Immigration Reform, Slim Victory for Second Amendment and Stacking the Court should have us all worried. Sorry to be a downer.

Like many teens, Anthony struggles to pass his driver's license test. Unlike others, his test involves some exciting home invasion!
My boy is taking the driving test the first week of August and in my search for driving tips for him, I found this hilarious video.

Arizona Tells Employees Health Insurance Will Skyrocket

State and university employees with families can expect to see their monthly health-insurance costs rise as much as 37 percent next year, depending on the type of plan they choose.

Figures provided by the Arizona Department of Administration show that health plans for families and single adults with children will shoulder the most-expensive monthly premium increases beginning Jan. 1, while individuals will pay modest increases.

The Department of Administration cited federal health reform as the reason the state's health plans will carry "greater expenses and higher premiums for members," according to a June 30 letter sent to about 135,000 state and university employees and their dependents.

The letter named two provisions that the state expects will drive health-insurance costs higher. One is a requirement that insurance plans provide coverage for dependent children up to age 26. The other is the federal legislation's ban on lifetime limits, an insurance-industry practice that cuts coverage once an individual's medical expenses exceed a set amount over their lifetime.

Our Modern Depression: Unemployment at 22%

Thanks, Obama. I recall specifically being assured by a doctor in early 2009 that you would not socialize medicine. Only a madman would so something so radical during an economic crisis. Now Obamacare and your other socialist policies hang like the sword of Damocles over employers and Americans alike. You hurt this country in your zeal to remake America in the image of your redistributionary socialist Utopia. You are certainly the worst president of my lifetime. And that has nothing to do with your color or race. It has everything to do with your character and policies. Look what your wrong-headed ideas have wrought:
Raghavan Mayur, president at TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, follows unemployment data closely. So, when his survey for May revealed that 28% of the 1,000-odd households surveyed reported that at least one member was looking for a full-time job, he was flummoxed.

"Our numbers are always very accurate, so I was surprised at the discrepancy with the government's numbers," says Mayur, whose firm owns the TIPP polling unit, a polling partner for Investors' Business Daily and Christian Science Monitor. After all, the headline number shows the U.S. unemployment rate today is 9.5%, with a total of 14.6 million jobless people.

However, Mayur's polls continued to find much worse figures. The June poll turned up 27.8% of households with at least one member who's unemployed and looking for a job, while the latest poll conducted in the second week of July showed 28.6% in that situation. That translates to an unemployment rate of over 22%, says Mayur, who has started questioning the accuracy of the Labor Department's jobless numbers.

I hope everybody is having a great weekend. Here is my rule 5 post.

Admitted to Hospital With Stomach Ulcer: She Gives Birth to Baby Boy

Every once in a while we hear a story of a gal who didn't know she was pregnant. Lisa Witchalls, 25 of Essex, England, was told she could not get pregnant. She claims she failed 4 home pregnancy tests. After arriving at the hospital with intense stomach pain....
Doctors checked her blood pressure and carried out two positive pregnancy tests. She was told initially she was 35 weeks pregnant and was transferred to the labour ward. But after a problem with the baby's heartbeat, she was measured again and was told that in fact the baby was overdue. “I could not get my head around what was going on, I went through so many emotions,” said Miss Witchalls, of Romford.

“First I was just happy I was pregnant and thought I would have some time to get used to the idea, then I was told I had to give birth straight away.” Her son, who she has named Reece, was born by Caesarean section and weighed 7lb 4oz.
Ahhh. I love a happy ending. Link.

Prison Rape: America's Shame

The thought of prison rape has always bothered me. And in some of my forays around the internet, I have seen people comment that they assume if any one person is sent to prison, they are likely to be raped. Particularly a small-built, attractive male.

Why is it OK to laugh about this? Why is it OK to include rape as part of every person's sentence? Is it not cruel and unusual punishment? If we are to build prisons, we MUST take responsibility for the people in them. For their safety.

Maybe there is something I don't understand about this. I have never been in law enforcement or even visited at a prison. But I don't understand why we as a society are so complacent about this form of prison torture. The following is a story about a woman inmate raped by a guard, and a male inmate raped by inmates and infected with AIDS. He wrote a bad check. He is now dying. How is this fair. :-(

http://www.alternet.org/rights/147303/the_brutal_horror_of_prison_rape_as_told_by_its_victims?page=1

The federal Prison Rape Elimination Commission found that more than 60,000 prisoners are the victims of rape and sexual abuse each year. Many inmates are afraid to report such crimes and even those who do are often ignored or dismissed.
Not only hardcore criminals are being victimized. The commission heard from former inmates who made relatively minor mistakes – a political protest gone wrong, a drunken driving arrest or a probation violation – and ended up being brutally raped.

La Raza Trying To Get ML Baseball To Move 2011 All-Star Game Out Of AZ

I saw this ad on my Google Adsense in the sidebar of this blog. It said to call Bud Selig's office and urge him to change the location of the 2011 All Star game OUT of Arizona. I promptly called to see if I could urge him to KEEP the game in Arizona. The NCLR phone system did not have that option, so I googled Selig's contact information and called him myself, leaving a message supportive of Arizona. I urge you to do the same.
The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball
Allan H. (Bud) Selig, Commissioner
245 Park Avenue, 31st Floor
New York, NY 10167
Phone: (212) 931-7800
Here is what the people at the National Council of La Raza had to say:
Baseball is in danger of losing that reputation. The 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game is currently scheduled to take place in Arizona, a state where many of the players themselves would be profiled by Arizona’s new anti-immigrant law that essentially sanctions racial profiling and makes Latinos and others suspect based on their skin color or their accents.
Will they ever stop lying to score political points? The AZ law FORBIDS profiling.

Update: Looks like there were protests and counter protests outside of this year's Anaheim, CA All-Star game.

Do We Live In A State of Emergency?

As I am working my way through Michael Badnarik's book, Good to be King, I came across a part that says that the United States operates under several declared national emergencies, starting on March 9, 1933. And it is these declarations that cause the loophole in the constitution to allow the president to assume powers reserved for congress. Under normal circumstances, a president should not issue executive orders. Presidents do not legislate. Under normal circumstances, congress should declare war, not the president. But ALL wars since WWII have been declared unilaterally by the president, not congress.

We need to urge (DEMAND) that our legislators reverse and end all declared states of national emergency. I am not willing to sell my liberty for perceived (and fake) security. THIS is the reason we are flirting with Tyranny. And it must be stopped. We want to restore the Constitution? End the State of Emergency TODAY!

Homeless Man Rescues American Flag During Storm

This is the story of Gustus Bozarth, homeless American. He found old glory and a fallen flagpole near his shelter during a heavy storm in El Paso, Texas. He folded the flag military-style and put it inside, and moved the flag pole out of the way outside. His actions were caught on surveillance tape.
Many Americans have been moved by this act, and a fund has been set up for him.

"In trust for Gustus Bozarth" is being managed by Wells Fargo, 6175 Gateway Blvd. West, El Paso, Texas 79925. The account number is 7913692971.

News Crews Blocked From Reporting Oil Spill

This seems like a violation of the first amendment to me. What do you think?

And now BP is reporting that there will possibly be another cap installed soon. While I applaud all efforts to halt the gusher, I can't help but wonder if the Obama administration is beginning to think that maybe this Crisis has gone on enough. The moniker "Oilbama" is starting to stick.

Could Black Panther Case Bring Down Obama Administration?

Why is is OK to threaten and intimidate voters with nightsticks outside of a polling place? Should it matter what skin color the voters have? Should it matter what skin color the thugs have? Shouldn't justice be blind to race and ethnicity? A crime should be a crime.

But not in Eric Holder's Justice Department. And not on the Civil Rights Division on his watch. If the victims are white, and the perpetrators are of color, no prosecution will be pursued, no matter how much evidence there is.  In Mr. Adams' testimony before the Civil Rights Commission he said:
“I was told by Voting Section management that cases are not going to be brought against Black defendants for the benefit of White victims. That if somebody wanted to bring these cases, it was up to the US Attorney but the Civil Rights Division wasn’t going to be bringing it.”

Oh, but maybe that Black Panther was just holding the nightstick for someone else. He could be innocent, right? Umm. Get a load of what he said on tape a while back:
“I hate white people…all of them…every last iota of a cracker, I hate them…You want freedom? You’re going to have to kill some crackers. You’re going to have to kill some of their babies.

This whole "cracker" quote has Twitter on fire today. The Tweeters are coming up with jokes about Crackers, like Cracker Movie Titles. NonLiberalVTer said, "In these PC times, isn't it more appropriate to say 'Cracker-American'? #ponderingcrackerism" I find it hard to laugh at this, though. As a mother of 6 babies, 2 old enough to vote, I wouldn't want my kids anywhere hear this Shabazz character at any time. Much less on voting day. He needs to be IN JAIL.
Hat Tip PajamasMedia.

It is hard to believe that Holder did not discuss this case with the Obama administration. Hillbuzz asks if this story will be the one to bring down the Obama administration.
The general public was not aware of the importance of Watergate for the longest time either. People we know who actually lived in Washington, DC in the early 1970s said they heard a little about something happening at some hotel, but didn’t pay much attention to it until everything pretty much hit the fan one day. Things built up. Confidence in the White House was shaken. And then, as it was described to us, “it was like a big sinkhole just opened up and swallowed Nixon and everything broke loose”.

We don’t know if the Black Panther case will itself be the sinkhole that takes down this presidency, but something is coming. The Media and this White House have been race-baiting for over two years now. Anyone who does not agree with this “president” is called a RAAACIST. Anyone who criticizes this administration is RAAACIST. This “president” and his administration make absolutely everything, ultimately, about race.

We can’t help thinking this is going to come back to bite them, in a very, very big way.

Lawsuit filed against Chicago's new gun laws

Apparently a group of people, including Illinois gun shop owners, think that a law that prohibits people from carrying a gun on their own property, such as on the porch or in the garage, infringes on their right to bear arms. Hmmm. So days after the Supreme Court strikes down the Chicago Gun Ban, Chicago passes a new law, saying in effect: Sure you can have a gun. Illegal Immigration Rant by Al Rowley for Act For America

I hope I didn't leave you with the impression that we didn't discuss illegal immigration at the San Juan Capistrano Tea Party on Saturday. Al Rowley certainly did, and quite well. He has a way with words and his sentiments are heart-felt. Go get 'em, Al! We're with ya!

OC Register Reports Tea Party As Anti-Illegal Immigration Rally

Apparently I attended a rally against illegal immigrants on Saturday. Yes, I was there at the Tea Party for several hours, live-blogging. Yes, I listened to ALL of the speakers carefully, and they spoke about many topics, including illegal immigration. And NO, Tea Party people do not want to throw open America's doors to any and all illegals. We want a common sense immigration policy that controls the borders FIRST then allows legal immigrants in at a pace that does not bankrupt our once-great nation.

It wasn't until Donald Douglas at American Power Blog emailed me the OC Register story on the Tea Party that I saw that the reporter had reported that "Hundreds Rally Against Illegal Immigrants", featuring a picture that included me in the lower right-hand corner. Huh.

Can someone explain to me why Erika Ritchie, who was not there for the ENTIRE event, reported on such a narrow topic, and pretended that it was the entirety of what the Tea Party was about? Is this all about getting a sensational story on the OC Register website and racking up comments/hits?  Or is she trying to smear the Tea Party?  Why did she not even mention the Tea Party aspect?  There were signs everywhere and quotes from our nation's founders.  Look at the coverage on American Power Blog. Donald Douglas shows the wide variety of issues that were discussed.

Rep Ken Calvert Speaks in San Juan Capistrano

I had a great day at the San Juan Capistrano Tea Party. The only problem is that I tend to send one picture from my Blackberry up to blogger at a time, and with the cramped writing on the small keyboard, it makes for, er, interesting posts. I have since come home and consolidated most of the speakers, deleting the numerous posts, keeping the ones with comments because I would never want to delete any of your wonderful comments.
I was surprised (and yet not surprised) to bump into Donald Douglas of American Power Blog at the event. I recognized him right away, as we had met at the Michele Bachmann event last year. We took another picture together, which I will be happy to share here after he posts it on his blog and I can swipe it. ;-)

Rep Calvert said, "We only need to look at Greece and the EU to see what happens with unrestrained spending. My father used to say you can't spend yourself out of debt, son."

Many 9/12 marchers were refused entry into democrat offices. But he welcomed all visitors that day.

"I have never seen our capital more divided than it is today. This is the change that Obama brought to Washington."

"Am I from the party of No? I consider myself a member of the party of Hell No!"

And here is something hopeful for everyone involved in the You Cut movement. Rep Calvert said that You Cut is forcing tough votes in Washington. The Obama administration is now looking at federal lands that could be sold off to raise money, as You Cut suggested.

"When Americans are out of work we should be insuring that jobs go to Americans and legal immigrants."

Great Speakers At San Juan Capistrano Tea Party

Star Parker, candidate for congress in CA-37, is a great speaker. I fully enjoyed listening to her and hearing how she used to be a liberal "living the lie that the left sells".
She said that we are at a crossroads. And we pray that we may be able to save our country from being turned into that which our founders did not intend.

Lon Uso, San Juan Capistrano Mayor said, "We came here to be Americans, not Mexicans living in America."
He worries that he has friends that are reducing their output so they can be below an artificial line separating average people from the rich must be punished for their success.
"We are trading our freedom for comfort."

Lynn Schorr quoted, "being American is not a matter of blood or birth, but a matter of faith. Who said that? Barack Obama said that several days ago. Faith? Or is it a matter of LAW, Mr. President?"
She says that illegals have allegiance to a foreign power and their children have allegiance to those parents. We as Americans welcome immigrants, but in an organized way so that we are not bankrupted.

Linda Dorr said, "Today we find ourselves in the greatest war of our lifetime. We are fighting the governments of Sacramento and Washington."
"You have to set brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. Michelle Bachmann says you have to adopt a progressive. You remind them that there will be a VAT tax and maybe even a tax on the air that we breathe if the Democrats win in November."

Brian Watt, blogger at the Barking Dog of the Radical Right said, "Its time for more of us to stand in Obama's way. Our struggle to preserve protect and defend our freedom never ends."

Deem And Pass, July 1, 2010-Congress Hits A New Low

I have posted this video before. I am reposting it in honor of July 4th. This song has special significance. American soldiers continue to fight and die for our country in the field, deserving our ongoing thanks and appreciation. The 9/11 imagery is powerful, reminding us that we stand for freedom and individual rights in a world that fears the individual. Some in our own country fail to protect our unalienable rights, some of which are enumerated in the Constitution. Who would have guessed that our country would come to a point where a Congress of representatives could Deem a Nonexistent Budget Bill PASSED, as our congress did on Thursday of this week.
Last night, as part of a procedural vote on the emergency war supplemental bill, House Democrats attached a document that "deemed as passed" a non-existent $1.12 trillion budget. The execution of the "deeming" document allows Democrats to start spending money for Fiscal Year 2011 without the pesky constraints of a budget. The procedural vote passed 215-210 with no Republicans voting in favor and 38 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote against deeming the faux budget resolution passed. Never before -- since the creation of the Congressional budget process -- has the House failed to pass a budget, failed to propose a budget then deemed the non-existent budget as passed as a means to avoid a direct, recorded vote on a budget, but still allow Congress to spend taxpayer money.
Hat tip Newsbusters.
Don't be fooled by the 38 Democrats who crossed the aisle to vote against this. They are the ones Pelosi gave permission to, so they would have political cover during the upcoming elections. Democrats have sold out our country and our Constitution all this past year. If she had needed their votes for this bill or others, she would have had them. We must remember in November.
The Constitution says that members of congress are supposed to vote yes or no on each bill and those votes are recorded. You can't bang a gavel and deem something passed. This is Treason. And there will be more. I expect that the lame duck session after November will be one for the history books.
Alexander Hamilton said that there are two ways to bring a country to its knees. Conquering by force, or through debt. May God help us as we fight for our country and our future.

Ooops! Somebody Lied. Greg Craig? SEIU? Obama? Ask Blago.

Apparently Obama's counsel, Greg Craig, said that he did not have sex with that senate seat. SEIU recalls otherwise....

Beach Oil Coverup--Literal Coverup With Trucked-In Sand

You call this cleaning a beach? Six inches of trucked-in sand over a layer of tar-asphalt? What??? Something is very wrong about this.

Black Panther Case Whistleblower-Let the Smears Begin!

The U.S. Department of Justice now claims that J. Christian Adams was "unhappy" in his job, despite the fact that he received a promotion on April 29th. This does not surprise me. As the administrators at DOJ cannot possibly understand the concepts of honor or integrity, they would therefore be unable to identify anybody who operates on those principles.

Adams quit because Eric Holder's Department of Justice has decided to only pursue civil rights complaints if the complaints are by people of color against white people. This is not only blatantly racist and illegal, but dangerous to our Republic, in that it legalizes intimidation at the voting booth. As long as the voters are white.
