Obama Orders 1 mill U.S. Troops to Prepare For Civil War - E.U. Times

Russian Military Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin that US President Barack Obama has issued orders to his Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) top leader, US Air Force General Gene Renuart, to “begin immediately” increasing his military forces to 1 million troops by January 30, 2010, in what these reports warn is an expected outbreak of civil war within the United States before the end of winter.
According to these reports, Obama has had over these past weeks “numerous” meetings with his war council about how best to manage the expected implosion of his Nations banking system while at the same time attempting to keep the United States military hegemony over the World in what Russian Military Analysts state is a “last ditch gambit” whose success is “far from certain”.
And to Obama’s “last ditch gambit”, these reports continue, he is to announce in a nationwide address to his people this coming week that he is going to expand the level of US Military Forces in Afghanistan by tens of thousands of troops, while at the same time using the deployment of these soldiers as a “cover” for returning to the United States over 200,000 additional American soldiers from the over 800 bases in over 39 countries they have stationed around the Globe bringing the level of these forces in America to over 1 million, a number the US Military believes will be able to contain the “explosion of violence” expected to roil these peoples when they learn their economy has been bankrupted.

More here at the E U Times, where you can see a video of a Russian-speaking guy named Igor, postulating how the U.S. will break up into 6 different countries, with, SURPRISE, Russia having control over a number of them, including Alaska! I think Igor had a few too many vodkas with lunch and is having Russo-centric daydreams.
As for the civil war scenarios, it would appear that Obama and cronies are taking the predictions of the collapse of the dollar seriously. But if that is the case, then WHY are they still pushing full steam ahead with the insane spending/taxing programs, spiraling us into further debt? Stop with the health care! Stop with the stimulus! Stop with the Cap and Tax! Stop the government takeovers! Encourage small business, the engine of the American economy, so that we can create some REAL jobs and build the tax base in a normal manner. PREPARE FOR PROSPERITY, NOT FOR CLOWARD-PIVEN CIVIL WAR, YOU NITWIT!

She Regrets Voting for Obama

Simone talks about why she regrets drinking the Obama Kool Aid and has created a public confession. She is sorry she voted for Barack Obama. I especially like the part around 8:20 where she explains how she, as a black woman, felt to see a successful black family portrayed in the media. She wanted that to be true so badly that she ignored the warning signs about Obama.

Ho Hum. It's Only the New World Order (Yawn)

Damon Vickers says: Wage disparities may lead to a global currency crisis, then you get an alignment under a global world government, a new global currency and a new world order. It assumes that the dollar will get utterly destroyed and be virtually worthless. We have a 65 trillion dollar negative net worth. Is it me or is it odd to hear the collapse of the dollar and a New World Order talked about so calmly on CNBC.

What's Wrong With CA, and What's Right With Texas?

Why are the top 5 job-creating cities all in Texas? Will CA continue to lose jobs to Nevada? Will Texas continue to be a magnet for new business? Will other states adopt tort reform measures pioneered in Texas? What can the country learn from this dichotomy?

First, Texans on average believe in laissez-faire markets with an emphasis on individual responsibility. Since the ’80s, California’s policy-makers have favored central planning solutions and a reliance on a government social safety net. This unrelenting commitment to big government has led to a huge tax burden and triggered a mass exodus of jobs. The Trends Editors examined the resulting migration in “Voting with Our Feet,” in the April 2008 issue of Trends.

Second, Californians have largely treated environmentalism as a “religious sacrament” rather than as one component among many in maximizing people’s quality of life. As we explained in “The Road Ahead for Housing,” in the June 2009 issue of Trends, environmentally-based land-use restriction centered in California played a huge role in inflating the recent housing bubble. Similarly, an unwillingness to manage ecology proactively for man’s benefit has been behind the recent epidemic of wildfires.

Third, California has placed “ethnic diversity” above “assimilation,” while Texas has done the opposite. “Identity politics” has created psychological ghettos that have prevented many of California’s diverse ethnic groups and subcultures from integrating fully into the mainstream. Texas, on the other hand, has proactively encouraged all the state’s residents to join the mainstream.

Fourth, beyond taxes, diversity, and the environment, Texas has focused on streamlining the regulatory and litigation burden on its residents. Meanwhile, California’s government has attempted to use regulation and litigation to transfer wealth from its creators to various special-interest constituencies.

For Those Who Can't Be Thankful

This vid made me cry. My mind turns to the people who can't be thankful this year. Lives lost in the womb. Babies so young that nobody can hear them scream. This lady quit as a director of Planned Parenthood after assisting an abortion via ultrasound on a 13-week-old fetus.

You Have Been PWNED!

Thanksgiving is upon us. You may find yourselves among family this weekend, and I want you to be up on the newest lingo of the younger generation. My 10-y-o boy and I were playing a rather competitive game of catch the other day and he told me that I'd been "powned". I sort of remembered hearing that word before and asked him what it meant. He wasn't sure, so I googled it and found this on Urban Dictionary:

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

So there it is. I don't recommend that you use the word yourself. Sometimes it is best to let the young ones have their language all to themselves. But at least you know the score. ;-)

Commanders said we had to have to win, people said it didn't matter.
When he started spending us into a debt that was so big we could not
pay it off,
people said it didn't matter.

When he took a huge spending bill under the guise of stimulus and used
it to pay off organizations, unions and individuals that got him
elected,
people said it didn't matter.

When he took over insurance companies, car companies, banks, etc.
people said it didn't matter.
When he took away student loans from the banks and put it through the
government, people said it didn't matter.

When he designed plans to take over the health care system and put it
under government control, people said it didn't matter.

When he set into motion a plan to take over the control of all energy
in the United States through Cap and Trade, people said it didn't
matter.

When he finally completed his transformation of America into a
Socialist State ,
People finally woke up... but it was too late.

Any one of these things, in and of themselves does not really matter.
But, when you add them up one by one you get a phenomenal score that
points to the fact that our Obama is determined to make America over
into a Marxist/Socialist society. All of the items in the preceding
paragraphs have been put into place. All can be documented very
easily. Before you disavow this, do an internet search. The last
paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that
paragraph. Will it read as above or will it be a happier ending for
most of America? Personally, I like happy endings.

If you are an Obama Supporter, please do not be angry with me because
I think your president is a socialist. There are too many facts
supporting this. If you seek the truth you will be richer for it.
Don't just belittle the opposition. Search for the truth. I did.
Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Constitutionalist, Libertarians
and what have you; we all need to pull together. We all must pull
together or watch the demise of a society that we all love and
cherish. If you are a religious person, pray for our nation.

Never before in the history of America have we been confronted with
problems so huge that the very existence of our country is in
jeopardy. Don't rely on most television news and what you read in the
newspapers for the truth. Search the internet. Yes, there is a lot of
bad information, lies and distortions there too but you are smart
enough to spot the fallacies. Newspapers are a dying breed. They are
currently seeking a bailout from the government. Do you really think
they are about to print the truth? Obama praises all the television
news networks except Fox who he has waged war against. There must be a
reason. He does not call them down on any specifics, just a general
battle against them. If they lie, he should call them out on it but he
doesn't. Please, find the truth, it will set you free.

Our biggest enemy is not China, Russia, Iran; no, our biggest enemy is
a contingent of politicians in Washington DC.

Mammograms: American Cancer Society Guidelines

The review of the various clinical trials as reported by OHSU showed that mammography reduced deaths from breast cancer by about 15% in women ages 40-49. They also found that 1904 (range 929-6378) women had to be screened over 10 years to save one life. For women ages 50-59 years, the reduction in deaths was about the same (14%). The number that needed to be screened was 1339 (range 322-7455). In women ages 60-69, the reduction in deaths was 32%, and the number who needed to be screened over 10 years was 377.

What this means is that mammograms are indeed successful in reducing deaths from breast cancer in all age groups, especially women between 60 and 69 years old. But since the actual incidence of breast cancer is less in women ages 40-49, the absolute/actual numbers of lives saved is also less. So you have to screen more women to get the same benefit.

Stated another way, the Task Force agrees that mammography reduces deaths in women ages 40-49. It just doesn’t save enough lives, in their opinion.

The United States Preventative Services Task Force USPSTF issued new guidelines:

1) The Task Force recommends against routine screening for women ages 40-49. Whether to start screening before age 50 should be an individual choice.

2) The Task Force recommends screening every two years for women between ages 50 and 74.

3) The Task Force can’t make any recommendations on whether women ages 75 and over should be screened, because there is not enough evidence upon which they can base a recommendation.

4) There is not enough evidence to make a recommendation about the value of clinical breast examination (a careful breast exam done periodically by a trained medical professional) for women 40 years of age or older

5) There is no evidence that teaching women how to do breast self examination makes an difference, so they recommend against teaching women how to do it

6) There isn’t enough evidence to say anything about the value of digital mammography and MRI screening in women at average risk of breast cancer.

The Task Force recommendations make sense from a purely "collective" standpoint. They save the most money for the most benefit when you weight the cost/benefit analysis. There will be deaths, however. One in every 2000 women between the ages of 40 to 49 will DIE in order to achieve these cost savings. Now that wouldn't be a problem if people are considered to be robots with no feelings and no family and no children left motherless by these deaths. But that is not the case. And there is a real danger that the government and insurers will take these new guidelines as a basis for disallowing insurance payments for these services. Americans have high standards when it comes to our medical care. We want the very best for ourselves and our loved ones. I hope we do not change as a society in this way. Millions of poor and working class women will be subject to these rules with no backup plan. That would be a step in the wrong direction for our society.

Several Hurdles Remain to Health Care Legislation

I have to tell you, the wind really came out of my sails yesterday. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I saw on Twitter someone said that of the bills opened up for debate in the senate such as the Reidcare bill, over 97% end up being approved by the Senate. Can that be TRUE? Oh no. And this is such a DOG of a bill. So much intrusion into our personal lives. I am hoping that this bill is different, because it is such a high profile case. Here are the final hurdles it must pass before going into law.

Eventually, Harry Reid will bring the Bill to “cloture” — the critical step where the Senate will vote to end the debate. Mr Obama needs 60 votes here to defeat a Republican filibuster. This will be the most important vote of the entire process.

If he manages to defeat a Republican filibuster with 60 votes, the Senate votes on final passage of the Bill. Only a simple majority — 51 votes — is needed.

The House and Senate must then appoint members to a “conference committee” from each chamber, which will meet to reconcile the House and Senate Bills into one piece of legislation.

Sixty votes will again be needed to stop Republicans blocking the appointment of such a committee.

If differences are reconciled the committee produces a “conference report” — the final version of the legislation. It is debated again in both chambers but cannot be amended.

Sixty votes are again needed in the Senate to bring the debate to cloture and to move to a final vote. If each chamber votes to pass the final legislation it goes to Mr Obama for signature.

SNL Rips Obama Re: Overspending

Edited to add: NBC has deleted the video. :-(

"I'm curious. How many jobs has it created. I see... How exactly is extending health care coverage to 30 million people going to save you money." "I am noticing that each of your plans to save money involve spending more money..."
I found another vid. See if this one works.

Dear Employees, Tax Increases Are Coming to YOU.

Subject: The Employee Meeting

THIS IS WELL WORTH READING

The Employee Meeting: I would like to start by thanking you for
attending this meeting, though it's not like you had much of a
choice. After all, attendance was mandatory. I'm also glad many of
you accepted my invitation to your family members to be here as
well. I have a few remarks to make to all of you, and then we'll
retire to the ballroom for a great lunch and some employee awards.

I felt that this meeting was important enough to close all 12 of our
tire and automotive shops today so that you could be here. To
reassure you, everybody is being paid for the day --- except me.
Since our stores are closed we're making no money. That economic
loss is mine to sustain. Carrington Automotive has 157 full time
employees and around 30 additional part-timers. All of you are here.
I thank you for that.

When you walked into this auditorium you were handed a rather thick
78-page document. Many of you have already taken a peek. You were
probably surprised to see that it's my personal tax return for 2008.
Those of you who are adept at reading these tax returns will see
that last yearmy taxable income was $534,000.00. Now I'm sure this
seems rather high to many of you. So ... let's talk about this tax
return.

Carrington Automotive Enterprises is what we call a Sub-S - a
Subchapter S corporation. The name comes from a particular part of
our tax code.Sub-S status means that the income from all 12 of our
stores is reported on my personal tax return. Businesses that report
their income on the owner's personal tax return are referred to as
"small businesses." So, you see now that this $534,000 is really the
total taxable income - the total combined profit from all 12 of our
stores. That works out to an average of a bit over $44,000 per store.

Why did I feel it important for you to see my actual 2008 tax
return? Well, there's a lot of rhetoric being thrown around today
about taxes, small businesses and rich people. To the people in
charge in Washington right now I'm a wealthy American making over a
half-million dollars a year. Most Americans would agree: I'm just
another rich guy; after all ... I had over a half-million in income
last year, right? In this room we know that the reality is that I'm
a small business owner who runs 12 retail establishments and employs
187 people. Now here's something that shouldn't surprise you, but it
will: Just under 100 percent ... make that 99.7 percent of all
employers in this country are small businesses, just like ours.

Every one of these businesses reports their income on a personal
income tax return. You need to understand that small businesses like
ours are responsible for about 80 percent of all private sector jobs
in this country, and about 70 percent of all jobs that have been
created over the past year. You also need to know that when you hear
some politician talking about rich people who earn over $200,000 or
$500,000 a year, they're talking about the people who create the jobs.

The people who are now running the show in Washington have been
talking for months about raising taxes on wealthy Americans. I
already know that in two years my federal income taxes are going to
go up by about 4.5 percent. That happens when Obama and the
Democrats allow the Bush tax cuts to expire. When my taxes climb by
4.5 percent the Democrats will be on television saying that this
really isn't a tax increase. They'll explain that the Bush tax cuts
have expired .. nothing more. Here at Carrington we'll know that
almost 5% has been taken right off of our bottom line. And that
means it will be coming off your bottom line.

Numbers are boring, I know ... but let's talk a bit more about that
$534,000. That's the money that was left last year from company
revenues after I paid all of the salaries and expenses of running
this business. Now I could have kept every penny of that for myself,
but that would have left us with nothing to grow our business, to
attract new customers and to hire new employees. You're aware that
we've been talking about opening new stores in Virginia Beach and
Newport News . To do that I will have to buy or lease property,
construct a building and purchase inventory. I also have to hire
additional people to work in those stores. These people wouldn't
immediately be earning their pay. So, where do you think the money
for all of this comes from? Right out of our profits .. right out of
that $534,000. I need to advertise to bring customers in, especially
in these tough times. Where do you think that money comes from? Oh
sure, I can count it as an expense when I file my next income tax
return .. but for right now that comes from either current revenues
or last year's profits. Revenues right now aren't all that hot ...
so do the math. A good effective advertising campaign might cost us
more than $300,000.

Is this all starting to come together for you now?

Right now the Democrats are pushing a nationalized health care plan
that, depending on who's doing the talking, will add anywhere from
another two percent to an additional 4.6 percent to my taxes. If I
add a few more stores, which I would like to do, and if the economy
improves, my taxable income ... our business income ... could go
over one million dollars! If that happens the Democrats have yet
another tax waiting, another five percent plus! I've really lost
track of all of the new government programs the Democrats and
President Obama are proposing that they claim they will be able to
finance with new taxes on what they call "wealthy Americans."

And while we're talking about health care, let me explain something
else to you. I understand that possibly your biggest complaint with
our company is that we don't provide you with health insurance. That
is because as your employer I believe that it is my responsibility
to provide you with a safe workplace and a fair wage and to do all
that I can to preserve and grow this company that provides us all
with income. I no more have a responsibility to provide you with
health insurance than I do with life, auto or homeowner's insurance.
As you know, I have periodically invited agents for health insurance
companies here to provide you with information on private health
insurance plans.

The Democrats are proposing to levy yet another tax against
Carrington in the amount of 8 percent of my payroll as a penalty for
not providing you with health insurance. You should know that if
they do this I will be reducing every person's salary or hourly wage
by that same 8 percent. This will not be done to put any more money
in my pocket. It will be done to make sure that I don't suffer
financially from the Democrat's efforts to place our healthcare
under the control of the federal government. It is your health, not
mine. It is your healthcare, not mine. These are your expenses, not
mine. If you think I'm wrong about all this, I would sure love to
hear your reasoning.

Try to understand what I'm telling you here. Those people that Obama
and the Democrats call "wealthy Americans" are, in very large part,
America 's small business owners. I'm one of them. You have the
evidence, and surely you don't think that the owner of a bunch of
tire stores is anything special. That $534,000 figure on my income
tax return puts me squarely in Democrat crosshairs when it comes to
tax increases.

Let's be clear about this ... crystal clear. Any federal tax
increase on me is going to cost you money, not me. Any new taxes on
Carrington Automotive will be new taxes that you, or the people I
don't hire to staff the new stores I won't be building, will be
paying. Do you understand what I'm telling you? You've heard about
things rolling downhill, right? Fine ... then you need to know that
taxes, like that other stuff, roll downhill. Now you and I may
understand that you are not among those that the Democrats call
"wealthy Americans," but when this "tax the rich" thing comes down
you are going to be standing at the bottom of the mud slide, if you
get my drift. That's life in the big city, my friends ... where
elections have consequences.

You know our economy is very weak right now. I've pledged to get us
through this without layoffs or cuts in your wages and benefits.
It's too bad the politicians can't get us through this without
attacking our profits. To insure our survival I have to take a
substantial portion of that $534,000 and set it aside for unexpected
expenses and a worsening economy. Trouble is, the government is
eyeing that money too ... and they have the guns. If they want it,
they can take it.

I don't want to make this too long. There's a great lunch waiting
for us all. But you need to understand what's happening here. I've
worked hard for 23 years to create this business. There were many
years where I couldn't take a penny in income because every dollar
was being dedicated to expanding the business. There were tough
times when it took every dollar of revenues to replenish our
inventory and cover your paychecks. During those times I earned
nothing. If you want to see those tax returns, just let me know.

OK ... I know I'm repeating myself here. I don't hire stupid people,
and you are probably getting it now. So let me just ramble for a few
more minutes. Most Americans don't realize that when the Democrats
talk about raising taxes on people making more than $250 thousand a
year, they're talking about raising taxes on small businesses. The
U.S. Treasury Department says that six out of every ten individuals
in this country with incomes of more than $280,000 are actually
small business owners. About one-half of the income in this country
that would be subject to these increased taxes is from small
businesses like ours. Depending on how many of these wonderful new
taxes the Democrats manage to pass, this company could see its tax
burden increase by as much as $60,000. Perhaps more.

I know a lot of you voted for President Obama. A lot of you voted
for Democrats across the board. Whether you voted out of support for
some specific policies, or because you liked his slogans, you need
to learn one very valuable lesson from this election. Elections have
consequences. You might have thought it would be cool to have a
president who looks like you; or a president who is young, has a
buff body, and speaks eloquently when there's a teleprompter in the
neighborhood. Maybe you liked his promises to tax the rich. Maybe
you believed his promise not to raise taxes on people earning less
than a certain amount. Maybe you actually bought into his promise to
cut taxes on millions of Americans who actually don't pay income
taxes in the first place. Whatever the reason .. your vote had
consequences; and here they are.

Bottom line? I'm not taking this hit alone. As soon as the Democrats
manage to get their tax increases on the books, I'm going to take
steps to make sure that my family isn't affected. When you own the
business, that is what you're allowed to do. I built this business
over a period of 23 years, and I'm not going to see my family suffer
because we have a president and a congress who think that wealth is
distributed rather than earned. Any additional taxes, of whatever
description, that President Obama and the Democrats inflict on this
business will come straight out of any funds I have set aside for
expansion or pay and benefit increases. Any plans I might have had
to hire additional employees for new stores will be put aside. Any
plans for raises for the people I now have working for me will be
shelved. Year-end bonuses might well be eliminated. That may sound
rough, but that's the reality.

You're going to continue to hear a lot of anti-wealth rhetoric out
there from the media and from the left. You can chose to believe
what you wish .. .but when it comes to Carrington Automotive you
will know the truth. The books are open to any of you at any time. I
have nothing to hide. I would hope that other small business owners
out there would hold meetings like this one, but I know it won't
happen that often. One of the lessons to be learned here is that
taxes ... all taxes ... and all regulatory costs that are placed on
businesses anywhere in this country, will eventually be passed right
on down to individuals; individuals such as yourself. This hasn't
been about admonishing anyone and it hasn't been about issuing
threats. This is part of the education you should have received in
the government schools, but didn't. Class is now dismissed.

SIEU Voter Fraud. Where is the Investigation?

Here are some whistleblowers complaining that SEIU members came to their house, marked their ballots FOR them, and took the ballots away. This MUST be investigated.

Of course, ACORN is not under Federal investigation yet, either. I really don't know what an organization has to DO to get investigated nowadays. Any ideas?

Free Fax Service to Contact Senators Re Healthcare

I saw this link on twitter just now. Great time to discover it, really. I hear the phones are jammed into Washington, so faxes are a good idea, as they can be sent in the middle of the night. The other fax service I know of has a fee, and this does not. Please. Today of all days. Click this link, type in your zip code and send those faxes! We must remind our Senators that we are WATCHING!

Obama Tells Truth to Troops in South Korea

Obama spoke from the heart to our men in uniform:

"You guys make a pretty good photo op," the president said.

Standing on a riser wearing a blue suit and red tie, with a cluster of troops and a large American flag behind him, Obama expressed "the gratitude of the American public" and said his meetings in four countries over eight days in Asia will help deliver a "safer, more prosperous world for all of us."

He got a huge cheer when he told them he was increasing military pay. "That's what you call an applause line," he said, before boarding his jet and taking off at 4:11 p.m.

He said these things to troops at Osan Air Base in South Korea before boarding Air Force One after his trip to Asia this past week. This, after aides explained that any decision on troop levels in Afghanistan would not be coming before Thanksgiving.

32% Tuition Hike Causes Near-Riot at UCLA

It gives me a bad feeling to see pseudo-rioting at my Alma Mater. My daughter still attends there, though this is her last year. I am saddened by this story. :-(

According to the Daily Bruin: A crowd of more than 500 demonstrators rushed Covel Commons on Wednesday to protest a proposed 32 percent student fee increase. They were met by dozens of university police, some of whom were outfitted in riot gear. At one point, protesters broke through police barricades that surrounded the main entrance to Covel. Officers responded to the stampede of students and union workers by extending the metal barricades around the entrance and using nightsticks and Taser guns to force the crowd back.

There were some excellent comments at BreitbartTV.

The contradictions of California are ‘coming home to roost’ in the immortal words of Obama’s spiritual mentor.

California has taxed and spent and taxed and spent and regulated the state to fiscal death. Now the rich have fled, manufacturing has fled, companies that need electricity have fled, anyone with assetts has fled.

The remaining tax base can’t support the bloated services the voters have given themselves. These spoiled brats want the belagured taxpayers of California to continue to over subsidize their education, but the money just isn’t there. It’s a zero sum game at this point. If tuition isn’t cut at UC, then welfare will be cut, or section 8 will be cut, or free medical care will be cut.

Students are out at protest, but I feel they many do nut understand WHY the public system needs to raise addition revenue. It is because they are broke due to the numerous social programs in the state of California. They should be protesting unsustainable government spending in Sacramento.

Luckily I got out of the CSU system prior to a 25% hike, but unluckily when the job market is flat.

This is just one of the first symptoms of why the welfare state cannot be sustained. I fear more and more for the state of California and the Union.

Sen Lieberman's Home is Under Siege by the Left

In an event held by the "Interfaith Fellowship for Universal Health Care" a "prayer vigil" was held outside of Joe Lieberman's Strawberry Hill Ave. apartment building in Stamford, Connecticut on November 15, 2009. Their people estimate about 475 in attendance. They marched from the Stamford High School to pray and chant outside of Joe Lieberman's home.
The protestors are angry because Sen. Lieberman has stated that he plans to join Republicans in a filibuster of the Obamacare bill. Lieberman does not want to put the debt this bill would cause onto his children and grandchildren. Lieberman said he won’t block efforts to begin the debate, but he will filibuster a public option to end the debate.

Reid Lobbying Senators For H C Vote This Weekend--Politico

With an assist from Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scrambled Wednesday to pull together 60 votes for his health reform bill, awaiting all-important cost estimates in hopes of getting the bill to the floor by the weekend.

At around 2:15 p.m., the three moderate Democratic holdouts - Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu and Ben Nelson - entered Reid's office for a briefing....

As expected, moderates were the focal point. Salazar ate lunch with Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) in the Senate dining room. Lincoln (D-Ark.) hustled into the Senate reception room for a sitdown with Biden, but she emerged without making any public commitments....

Reid said Tuesday that he is "cautiously optimistic" he can secure the 60 votes he needs to move forward on the bill by this weekend. Reid's bill is expected to include a national government insurance plan with a provision for states to opt out. Reid is also expected to adjust a 40 percent excise tax on high-value insurance plans by raising the threshold at which insurers would pay the fee. He's expected to make up for that lost revenue by proposing an expansion of the Medicare payroll tax.

Now remember, this is the health care bill that nobody has read. It has not been release. It is NOT the Pelosicare bill. I have to tell you it is SO frustrating that something so important and far-reaching for Americans is being subjected to back-room wrangling, lobbying, and possible threats/bribes. Oh, I mean "earmarks" and promises of a Democrat primary challenge if they don't go along. Is this any way to do the business of governing our country? Is this what our founders wanted from the Federal Government? That they would tell us how to live and die? Say it isn't so!

Please contact your senator THIS WEEK. Your life may depend on it.

Even Socialists are Against Obamacare

Politics are odd. Here are legions of conservatives, fighting daily proposals for more government intrusion in our lives. And you would think at least somebody would be happy about these developments. Like maybe avowed Socialists or Communists. But no. The Socialists at Socialist Web Zine are urging their members to protests Obamacare as it stands. Still not Socialist enough, in their minds. And it is instructive to see their reasoning. There is education to be had for us "mom and pop" type Americans who are not exposed to pure Socialist thought in our daily lives. This is what the Socialists are decrying about the Pelosicare bill:

The primary problem with HR 3962 and the Senate proposals is that all of the changes they propose are made within a for-profit system. The House Bill strips the insurance companies of the right to deny coverage based on a pre-existing condition. Yet, it de-links the public option from Medicare reimbursement rates, thereby surrendering pricing to the private sector. The Bill removes the anti-trust exemption enjoyed by private insurers. However, it simultaneously mandates that all Americans carry some form of health insurance, thereby herding millions into low-coverage high-fee private plans. Each step in a positive direction is coupled with a restructuring that will enrich private insurance companies and pharmaceutical makers.

The bills lost further reform credentials as Democrats cut last minute deals with Republicans. Immigrants were removed from eligibility for the public option, abortions were written out of the proposal and Medicare funding was cut. The Medicare cuts are particularly cruel, since they will reduce an already compromised plan to bare bones coverage. Some of the cuts will limit private insurance profiteering, but others will slash necessary items such as exercise programs for seniors. Overall, these omissions signal that the reforms are not about providing comprehensive medical coverage, but about political expediency within the establishment political class. The next round of negotiations in the Senate is sure to produce even further regressive measures as campaign-donation driven legislators cut more deals.

Notice how they said "immigrants" instead of Illegal Immigrants? This is inaccurate.

I agree that the Medicare cuts are particularly cruel.

It just struck me odd to see this article. I thought they, at least, would be happy to see the proposed destruction of so large a segment of the capitalist system.

A hotel in the French town of Nantes is offering the chance for people to become a hamster.

For 99 euros ($158) a night, you can eat hamster grain, run in a giant wheel, sleep in hay stacks in what is called the Hamster Villa.

Maud and Sebastien are the first ones to experience how hamsters live, not afraid at the thought of sleeping in hay or feeding on a hamster fountain and special grain.

It is a unique experience and, the guests say, just something different.

"To become a hamster, eat seeds, change our way of life... come out of our daily routine," Maud and Sebastien said.

I have to say, this got my attention. A night as a hamster. Are there accommodations for couples? Families? Should there be wood shavings on the floor?

The Silver Lining of the Left in Power

Dennis Prager wrote an interesting article for Front Page Magazine this morning.

Now Americans see the left’s policies for what they are:
1. The left wants America to abandon its defining commitment to individualism and replace it with a European-style nanny, or welfare, state.
At most Americans’ core is an abiding belief that we are supposed to take care of ourselves, our families and our neighbors, and not rely on the state to do so.
2. The left is naive about evil. Most Americans deemed Communism evil; the left ridiculed President Ronald Reagan for calling the Soviet Union an “evil empire” and often undermined the fight against the Communist world. So, too, the left is naive about Islamic terror and undermines the fight against it.
The smoking gun was the nearly universal denial by the left that his Islamic beliefs had anything to do with Maj. Nidal Hasan’s mass murder of fellow servicemen at Fort Hood. One of many examples was this reaction to the shootings by Evan Thomas, Editor at Large at Newsweek: “I think he’s probably just a nut case. But with that label (Muslim) attached to him, it will get the right wing going…”
3. The left is more interested in redistributing wealth than in creating it. This should have been as obvious to Americans as the brightness of the sun. Finally, Americans are coming to realize that the left’s goal is now, as it always has been, equality, not prosperity.
4. The left is far more interested in power than the right is. This, too, should have been self-evident, but finally, people are realizing that those who are preoccupied with creating an ever-expanding state are obviously far more interested in amassing power than those who want a smaller state.
5. The left is preoccupied with America being loved, and in pursuit of that end, compromises some of America’s core values. Examples abound here, too. To cite a few: the Obama administration’s neglect of those in Iran risking their lives for freedom in that tyranny; the administration’s refusal to meet with the Dalai Lama when the Tibetan leader visited Washington, lest the president annoy China’s dictators; the American government siding with Hugo Chavez against the Honduran government, which had legally removed a Chavez clone from the Honduran presidency; and the president’s obsequious apologies for America wherever he goes.

There were a couple of really good comments after the article. fporretto said:
First, the Left is not being "given credit" in an important sense: Despite all the evidence available, we aren't willing to infer its true motives. We continue to postulate that the Left is well-meaning but misguided. This is emphatically not the case.

Second, many leftist initiatives of the past year have a common theme: irreversibility. Mark Steyn has written on this subject, with particular attention to the irreversibility of nationalized health care. An irreversibly larger State is a larger bastion for statists.

Third, the weakening of America's defenses, both on the national (armed services, intelligence, etc.) and individual (gun rights) levels, has as its all too obvious aim the creation of a more fearful citizenry -- because fearful people are more easily subjugated and ruled.

jackbelias said:
American youth are the engine of the left. The democratic party knows full well that anarcho communist policies will forever be supported by youth looking to SMASH IT ALL UP. They wish to be in charge rather than start on the bottom as previous generations did.

Our gun rights and our military are in the way of their democratic "fun society". The military respects good order and guards the ideals of the true state, the constitutional republic. Gun owners can defend themselves from mobs of radicals seeking "social justice", this mob of course thinks the individual should have no means to repel them. I certainly hope most of you have a means of defense as I see the left making more and more bold moves toward their anarchistic "fun society" of entitlement, freedom from laws, and mob rule. Many are seeing the hell coming our way, now a box of bullets that used to sell for 15.00 sells for 60.00 after a long wait period on backorder. Handloaders are now discovering that it takes an act of god to find overpriced primers. Popular firearms are flying off the shelves for as much as 4 times what they costed 2 years ago. Yes America something is going down.

A Little Help Here

There is a new topic on Twitter that I'm having fun with. Please finish this sentence:

If Obama had bowed any lower...

I have already come up with a few:

IfObamaHadBowedAnyLower he could have curled up on a doggie bed.

IfObamaHadBowedAnyLower he could have painted his toenails.

Any others?

Could Health Care Get Bogged Down in the Senate?

Consider this.
The Senate and the House have been devising entirely separate bills on healthcare reform. Although the House has approved a bill, the Senate has not. With sharp differences of opinion among top Democrats in the Senate hampering the approval of a specific bill, the Senate has been tied up in committee sessions, closed-door meetings, and endless consultations with special interests, in order to somehow come up with a bill that will at least partially satisfy everyone involved.
Reid believes that he finally has a bill that will satisfy most Democratic Senators, but no one has seen it, and top Republicans are complaining that they have been totally shut out of the process.
It is this mysterious bill that will be placed on the Senate floor for debate this week. But remember, even if such a bill passes, which is highly doubtful, healthcare reform will still not yet become law.

Overall, Conservatives out-tweet Democrats, progressives and liberals more than 3.5 to 1! That is an astounding difference, and if I were a Democratic leader, I would be worried. The GOP establishment may not be winning the social media war, but the Conservatives certainly are.

Independents More Unhappy With Congress Than Republicans

Far too soon for DOOMWATCH, but one year in you don’t want to see this kind of reaction if you’re a Democrat:

Short version: both Democratic and Republican voters are happier with Congress these days, and Independents are not. The uptick for the first two is easy enough to explain: both side’s partisans are happy that their respective sides are slugging it out. The question is, which side are the folks in the middle supporting?

Well…

The new 2009 low in approval from independents comes at a time when a majority of registered independents say they would likely vote Republican rather than Democratic, 52% to 30%, if elections for Congress were held today. With Republicans and Democrats exhibiting the same degree of loyalty to their parties’ candidates, independents’ preference for Republicans gives that party a 48% to 44% edge over Democrats among registered voters overall.

Hannah Giles Speaks at Reagan Ranch

Hey, I like her, too. I'll admit it. Not just because of her beauty. In fact, there are a lot of physically beautiful people in the world who don't capture my attention. I am enthralled by her bravery and patriotism. For a girl at such a young age to do what she did. Breathtaking. She stepped, virtually unprotected, onto the front lines of our "cold civil war". And came out with a bold victory. Amazing. She points out that there are more corrupt organizations to look at as well, like the Apollo Alliance and SEIU. You GO, girl! Hopefully there are plenty of people willing to help you in your work. i suspect that there are.

Reporting from Santa Barbara - Hannah Giles was in the middle of her guerrilla warfare lecture this weekend at the young conservatives leadership conference when a man in the audience interrupted her.

"We love you!" he cried out. The crowd erupted in applause and whistles.

"Aw," Giles said into the microphone. "I love you guys too."

At age 20, Giles is a rock star of conservative activism. She shot onto the national scene in September after posing as a prostitute at ACORN offices around the country, where she secretly videotaped employees who appeared to give her advice on tax evasion, human smuggling and child prostitution.

Outrage over the recordings led Congress to cut federal funding for the community organizing group.

Giles credits the Young America's Foundation -- the group that put on the conference -- with inspiring much of her political action.

Two years ago, she said, she was just a laid-back surfer kid from Miami when a friend got her to attend a foundation event in Washington, D.C. That, she said, was where she converted to conservatism.

In her lecture Friday about how to take down liberal organizations and expose what she called media corruption, Giles sought to stir others to action. "Above all, attack, attack, attack," she said, quoting Republican consultant Roger Stone. "Never defend."

For her own efforts, she was given the group's Young Student Activist award.

This is getting old fast. Pelosi pushes her government healthcare takeover through the house in the dead of the night on a Saturday night. The Obama Administration announces the Worms are Headed to the Big Apple (see PJTV vid) on a Friday. Communist Czar Van Jones resigns in the dead of night on the weekend.

I suspect the Senate will address Health Care in the dead of night on a weekend. Probably the night before Christmas. Nothing is sacred to them except promoting their radical agenda.

Edited to add This Weekend's Surprise. Obama BOWS again. This time to Emperor of Japan. A gal on Twitter suspects that Obama is trying to desensitize us to servitude with all this bowing.

Aberration? Or Same Old, Same Old.

There have been "lone wolf" mass murderers in which angry radical Muslims sought to channel their frustrations and failures into violence against their perceived enemies of Islam [in addition to the larger terror plots].

Since Sept. 11, several Muslim men have run over innocent bystanders or shot random people at or near military bases, synagogues and shopping malls.

After the initial hysteria died down, we were usually told that such acts were isolated incidents, involving personal "issues" rather than radical Islamic hatred of the U.S. Yet a few examples show that was not quite the case.

The just-executed sniper John Allan Muhammad, who, along with an accomplice, killed 10, voiced approval of Osama bin Laden and radical Islamic violence.

Naveed Afzal Haq is currently on trial for going on a murderous rampage at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building. A survivor said Haq stated his attack was a "personal statement against Jews."

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar ran over nine students at the University of North Carolina. Officers said he told them afterward he wanted to avenge the deaths of Muslims worldwide.

Omeed Aziz Popal struck 18 pedestrians with his car near a Jewish center in San Francisco. Witnesses say he said, "I am a terrorist," at the scene.

No doubt in each case, experts could assure us that there were extenuating personal circumstances — stresses and mental illnesses that better explain what happened.

Mere mention that such killers typically voiced radical Islamic or virulently anti-Semitic themes often can earn one charges of Islamaphobia, racism or other illiberal biases. Indeed, I expect dozens of angry, accusatory letters in response to this column.

Nevertheless, the facts since 9/11 reveal an undeniable reality.

Every few months either an Islamic-inspired terrorist plot will be foiled, or a young Muslim male will shoot, run down or stab someone while invoking anger at non-Muslims.

In other words, the attack on Fort Hood happened on schedule. It was the rule, not the exception. And something like it will occur again — soon.

Poll Numbers, Radical Agenda, Drive War Decisions

Yesterday Chris Bowers made the interesting point that Obama’s decision on Afghanistan is likely to most heavily impact his standing among Democrats — and that if he damages his standing among the base it risks imperiling the rest of his agenda.

Comes now some new Gallup polling that seems to confirm this: It finds that Obama’s decision is likely to have its greatest impact among fellow Dems, and may not change his standing much with Republicans and independents.

Though nothing has been decided, Obama’s advisers are said to be leaning towards sending around 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, and most of the various scenarios Obama is considering entail a troop increase. The rub, from Gallup, is that a huge percentage of Dems don’t want any increase:

If Obama decides to increase U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan, he will be going against the wishes of the vast majority of rank-and-file Democrats. In fact, 60% of Democrats would like the president to begin to reduce troop levels in Afghanistan, while 26% support a troop increase of about 40,000 (18%) or less than that number (8%).

Perry: Obama "Hell-Bent" on Socialism

Texas GOP Gov. Rick Perry accused President Barack Obama on Wednesday of “punishing” Texas and being “hell-bent” on turning the United States into a socialist country.

Speaking at a luncheon for a Midland County Republican Women’s group, Perry said that “this is an administration hell-bent toward taking American towards a socialist country. And we all don’t need to be afraid to say that because that’s what it is.”

Perry praised the tea party movement to the Republican activists in attendance, crediting the grassroots groups with discouraging some Democrats in Washington from pushing for a public option in the health care bill.

“If you all think those tea parties didn’t work, then let me tell you something,” Perry said. “When they all came home in August for those town hall meetings, they got an earful. Then they went back to Washington, D.C. and the Senate voted that public option down in committee with a majority of Democrats in the Senate.”

Perry also accused the Obama administration of intentionally dumping illegal immigrants from other western states in Texas, recalling a conversation he had with local officials notifying him that illegal aliens that were caught in Nogales, Arizona were being dropped off by federal authorities in Presidio, Texas.
